Washington's 20-game win streak came to an end on Thursday afternoon in California with a 5-2 loss to St. Mary's.

The Washington Huskies ' winning streak has come to an end after 20 games following a 5-2 loss to St. Mary's on Thursday afternoon in Palo Alto, California. Coach Heather Tarr's team was finally bested because of a stellar outing from Gaels' pitcher Odhi Vasquez, who tossed a complete game and let up just 2 runs on 3 hits with a walk and a whopping 12 strikeouts as she improved to 13-2 on the season.

Two of those three hits came in the fourth inning when the Huskies plated their only runs of the game behind a solo home run from first baseman Alexis DeBoer and a run-scoring double from left fielder Ava Carroll. That gave Washington a 2-0 lead, but the pitching staff was unable to hold onto it in the late innings. FINAL | The Gaels take game 1 at Stanford.

After five scoreless innings, things fell apart for the Huskies in the sixth. The chaos started on an error from DeBoer, who dropped a throw and allowed the first run of the game to score. At that point, Maddox was lifted for freshman Allie Thomsen, who let up 4 hits and 3 earned runs in the inning, including a run-scoring triple to third baseman Sam Buckley and a two-run home run to first baseman Alex Cutonilli.
