Destrehan junior tosses shutout and delivers walk-off hit in 1-0 win over St. Charles Catholic
DESTREHAN, La. โ Destrehan leaned on one of its team captains in a 1-0 extra innings win over St. Charles Catholic Thursday afternoon.
Chase Marcotte got the start on the mound and tossed eight scoreless innings for the Wildcats. In the bottom of the eighth, the junior took the first pitch he saw and sent it to the wall in left-center field. Josh Muller scored all the way from first base for the first and only run of the game.
โIt felt amazing. I mean, I just went up, and I was hunting fastball, and I got it. I put a good swing on it and got our team the win,โ Marcotte said.
Marcotte finished with 7 strikeouts and only allowed 5 hits in the win. โThe kid has been a captain for us the last two years. Shows up every single day ready to go.
Whatever challenge we throw at him, heโs ready. Heโs a great teammate, great worker. Everything that he gets, he deserves.
