Oklahoma Sooners beat Kentucky 10-2 in run-rule win

The Oklahoma Sooners moved to 9-1 in SEC play with a 10-2 win over Kentucky.

The Oklahoma Sooners fell behind 2-0 in the top of the first inning against the Kentucky Wildcats , but it didn't take long for OU to turn the tide in their 10-2 run-rule win. Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the first, Kai Minor led off the game with a walk, and NCAA home run leader Kendall Wells added to her total with a two-run home run on the first pitch she saw. It was Wells 28th home run of the season and brought her to within two of tying the NCAA freshman record of 30 home runs in a season.

Two batters later, with two outs in the inning, Kasidi Pickering hit her 15th home run of the season to give Oklahoma the 3-2 lead. Starting pitcher Audrey Lowry settled in to retire the side in order in the second, including back-to-back strikeouts to close the frame. In the bottom of the second, Ailana Agbayani led off with a double and Kai Minor drove her in with two outs to make it 4-2 Sooners.

Lowry kept Kentucky from answering in the third, stranding runners on first and third to end the inning. In the bottom of the inning, Oklahoma exploded for five runs, all with two outs in the inning. Agbayani walked and Sydney Barker was hit by a pitch.

Abby Dayton reached on a bunt single to load the bases for Minor, who drove in two with a two-RBI single to extend the Sooners' lead to 6-2. Wells walked to reload the bases, and Dayton scored on a wild pitch, making it 7-2 OU. With runners on second and third with two outs, Ella Parker walked to load the bases again.
