Diego Pavia, the former Vanderbilt football quarterback, was in the dugout with the Commodores' baseball team for its series opener vs. Texas A&M.

Diego Pavia, the former Vanderbilt football quarterback, was shown in the dugout with Vanderbilt baseball during its season opener against Texas A&M in College Station on April 2. Pavia was the Heisman runner-up in 2025 and led Vanderbilt to its first 10-win season. The SEC Network+ broadcast of the game at Blue Bell Park showed Pavia in the dugout with the baseball team.

The baseball team had previously come to support the football team, including at the Commodores ' game at Alabama in October. Pavia also threw out the first pitch at a baseball game in March 2025. It has become common for teams across campus to support each other, as the football team was present behind home plate in Vanderbilt's 16-inning win over Tennessee at Hawkins Field on March 28.

Pavia was seen in Fort Worth, Texas for the Vanderbilt women's basketball Sweet 16 game against Notre Dame. Vanderbilt baseball coach Tim Corbin also attended games against Alabama and Tennessee. And Vanderbilt football coach Clark Lea threw out the first pitch for the first game of the Tennessee series.

Vanderbilt (18-12, 5-4 SEC) is in the midst of its second road series of the year as it faces No. 20 Texas A&M (23-5, 5-4). Aria Gerson covers Vanderbilt athletics for The Tennessean.
