Lightning Place Victor Hedman on Long-Term Injured Reserve
The Tampa Bay Lightning have placed captain Victor Hedman on long-term injured reserve, following the team's March 25 announcement that he would be taking a temporary leave of absence for personal reasons. A placement on LTIR requires a player to miss a minimum of 10 games and 24 calendar days, beginning the day after their last game played. Hedman has been out of the lineup since March 19, when he exited early in Vancouver after logging 4:44 of ice time.
Based on that timeline, Hedman would be eligible to return on April 13 against the Detroit Red Wings. The Lightning close out the regular season on April 15 against the New York Rangers. The veteran defenseman made his return to the Lightning lineup during the NHL Stadium Series game on Feb.
1 after recovering from elbow surgery from Nov. 12 to Jan. 29.
No further details have been released and the Lightning have asked that Hedmanโs privacy be respected at this time.
