An “Only Danny Hurley” moment, as he and referee Roger Ayers went literally tête-à-tête with Hurley’s sportcoat hanging halfway off his right shoulder? Undoubtedly. But a menacing moment after Braylon Mullins’ epic 3-pointer that sent UConn to the Final Four ?
An act that should have earned him a result-changing technical foul, as some — including former NFL referee Terry McAuley — have suggested? Nah. Doesn’t make sense.
At that point, with just a couple fractions of a second left on the clock, UConn had the game won. There was no reason for Hurley to argue with the officiating crew. Think it through.
