Apr. 2—AIKEN — April 1 has been declared USCA Women's Polo Day at the local university, an announcement made by Student Government Association President Kelly Palacios during an on-campus celebration of the women's team's recent championship win. "I could not be prouder," Palacios said, addressing the team.

"Your dedication and determination have led to this extraordinary achievement, and it's a historical milestone for our school. " The title-securing trio — Winnie Branscum, Madison Jordan and Brianna Jordan — completed this polo season undefeated, competing against several D1 institutions before winning the USPA Division I National Intercollegiate Championship in Dallas with a score of 15-6 against Texas A&M. "The game wasn't even close," USCA Chancellor Dr.

Dan Heimmermann laughed. "I watched the game, it was great... it was a wonderful, really dominating performance.

" As students gathered in front of the Student Activities Center to commemorate the team's success, Brianna Jordan spoke about the fanfare and what it's been like to be so recognized by her peers. "It's an exhilarating feeling," she said. "Coming back to campus has been nonstop celebration, and coming here and having this today has been really, really exciting for us, for our polo team.

" "We're really excited that the school is so happy about our win, and they want to continue on supporting us throughout the next season and for years to come," she added. She also shared a glimpse into what the championship was like: "The competition is always fierce. It's aggressive, it's physical," she said.
