Chevron to make friendly wager on Jackalopes game to benefit Texas, New Mexico communities
The rivalry matchup between the Odessa Jackalopes and the New Mexico Ice Wolves will carry extra weight this Saturday, April 4, at 7 p. m. at Ector Coliseum.
While the competition heats up on the ice, Chevron operations in West Texas and New Mexico are participating in a friendly wager to benefit regional nonprofits, a news release said. If the Jackalopes secure a victory, Chevron will donate $5,000 to SHARE, a West Texas nonprofit dedicated to providing resources and community programs for families of children with special needs. Conversely, if the Ice Wolves win, $5,000 will be directed to the New Mexico Blade Runners, an Albuquerque-based organization that offers adaptive sled hockey programs for individuals with physical disabilities.
Everyone wins in the end of this rivalry game, as the runner-up nonprofit will receive $2,500. โThis has become quite the fun and impactful tradition,โ Chevron Texas Director of Operations Tim Shannon said in the release. โWhile my team and I in Texas will be pulling for the Jackalopes and SHARE when the teams face off on Saturday, I know our counterparts in New Mexico will be cheering just as hard for the Ice Wolves and New Mexico Blade Runners.
Good luck to all! โ Puck drop is scheduled for 7:15 p. m.
at the Ector County Coliseum. Fans interested in tickets or additional game details can visit the official Odessa Jackalopes website or follow the teamโs updates on Facebook. For tickets or additional details, visit the Jackalopes website, or follow the team on Facebook.
