Veribest boys basketball coach Miles Romine steps down
Veribest High School boys basketball coach Miles Romine is stepping down after leading the Falcons to their most successful season.
Veribest High School boys basketball coach Miles Romine has decided to step away from his position, he confirmed with the San Angelo Standard-Times on Thursday. Romine said stepping away from his position was difficult, but he ultimately made the choice because he wanted to spend more time with his family. He will remain with Veribest ISD as a teacher.

Romine led Veribest to a 26-9 record and runners-up in District 11-1A, highlighted by a win over district champs and state-ranked Water Valley. The Falcons made their first trip to the regional quarterfinal with a 75-44 win over Paint Rock in the first round and a 60-22 win over Dell City in the second round.
Their breakout postseason run was cut short in the third round by eventual state champions Jayton. More: Sterling City ISD names new football coach, athletic coordinator Romine was hired in 2021 and helped lead the Falcons from missing the postseason in 2025 to making a deep run with a young team in 2026. Veribest will look for a new coach to take over the program with a strong core of returning talent, including first-team all-district selection junior Sterling Salvato and sophomore Lorenzo Hight.
