Stuart baseball has a bye for the first round of the Pitt 8 tournament this week. The Hornets are enjoying a successful season. At 8-5, Stuart is ranked third in class-B and was granted the bye game in the first round of the Pitt 8 tournament, which features just seven teams this year.
The Hornets will face the winner of the Pittsburg-Canadian game on Thursday in the second round of the tournament. Stuart is taking the approach of focusing on what they do best, not which match up they may get, coach Josh Williams said. "As conference rivalries go, you've got to play or you're going to get beat in the conference tournament," Williams said.
"Everybody's gunning to beat us so we've got to play our best game and that's what we're looking for every time we step on the field, we try to play our best game. " Defense has been the calling card for the Hornets to this point in the season. Through 13 games, Stuart's average game score is 7-3.
