Washington Football Adds Walk-On LB Jesse Ewell To 2026 Class
After growing up a Washington Husky fan as a kid in the Evergreen State, former San Clemente HS linebacker is set to return home to play for UW.
After captaining the San Clemente High School football team to a strong finish last fall, Jesse Ewell said it was time to come back home. The Evergreen State native is returning home to play for Washington and Jedd Fisch, suiting up at linebacker for second-year defensive coordinator Ryan Walters and outside linebackers coach Aaron Van Horn. Ewell, a lifelong Husky fan who moved to California after growing up in Washington, made nine appearances for the Tritons in 2025 and finished with 18 total tackles.
The 6-foot-2, 218-pound two-way athlete can also play tight end and could wind up as a special teamer early in his career at UW. View this post on Instagram Although his size wouldn’t necessarily indicate it, Ewell lined up most often as an outside linebacker for San Clemente and held his own against the run while proving to be a serviceable pass rusher off the edge. Ewell is expected to join the Huskies ’ program in June when the remaining five signees—offensive lineman Ah Deong Yang, defensive linemen David Schwarzel, Ta’a Malu, and JD Hill, and cornerback Rahsjon Duncan—from the 2026 recruiting class enroll in June.
Fisch stated during his opening spring press conference on Monday that the roster is at 94 players entering camp, with 82 of those healthy enough to participate and another half dozen potential walk-on spots still available going into the fall.
