Wisconsin transfer Christian Alliegro makes fast impression with OSU football

Wisconsin transfer linebacker Christian Alliegro gave Ohio State a glimpse of his toughness when the Buckeyes visited Madison last season.

Three months before linebacker Christian Alliegro transferred to Ohio State from Wisconsin , he gave the Buckeyes a peek into his makeup. It was during the Buckeyes’ shutout win over the Badgers in October when he broke a bone in his left arm. Alliegro was covering a screen pass in the first quarter when he fell hard on his forearm along the turf at Camp Randall Stadium, leaving him with an odd feeling.

He remained on defense for another play before heading to the sideline. When he met with the training staff, they found he had suffered a fracture, but left him with the option to return. He showed little hesitation.

“Why not? ” Alliegro said. While he sat out Wisconsin’s next two games due to the injury, he finished with 62 snaps against the Buckeyes and made six tackles, including two for a loss.

“I don’t how I did it,” Alliegro said. “The adrenaline got to me, and I was ready to go. ” It was a display of toughness that left an impression on Ohio State coach Ryan Day, who brought it up when they met following his entry into the transfer portal in January.
