Washington extends women's basketball head coach Tina Langley
The Washington Huskies signed head women's basketball coach Tina Langley to a contract extension that runs through 2032 on Thursday.
Washington women's basketball has locked in the head of the program until 2032. Head coach Tina Langley, who is fresh off leading the Huskies to their first NCAA Tournament win since Kelsey Plum took Washington to the Sweet Sixteen in 2016-17, signed a contract extension Thursday, per the Seattle Times' Percy Allen. The extension was later confirmed by the school.
Langley's buyout had dropped to $175,000 on Wednesday, so a new deal seemed inevitable if she was going to stay on Montlake. Rumors swirled that Alabama had interest in Langley's services after their coach Kristy Curry left for USF. Alabama hired Oklahoma associate head coach Pauline Love on Wednesday.
In her five seasons at the helm, Langley has turned around a program that went 25-57 in four years under her predecessor Jody Wynn. Apart from the 2021-22 season, in which the Huskies went 7-16, Langley has helmed Washington to a winning record in every season as head coach. That included a First Four appearance in 2024-25, the first time the Huskies appeared in an NCAA Torunament since Plum's senior year.
BREAKING: Washington Huskies and womenโs basketball coach Tina Langley agree on a six-year, $7. 1M extension that extends through the 2031-32 season. In five seasons, Langley has led UW to an 83-71 record, including back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances.
