Phil Mickelson Set To Miss 2026 Masters Due To Personal Health Matter

His announcement included additional details that Mickelson will be out for an extended period of time related to a personal health matter.
Mickelson’s withdrawal from the 2026 Masters will be only the second Masters Tournament he has missed since 1995. Mickelson played in consecutive Masters Tournaments from 1995 through 2021, having won the tournament three times, starting in 2004, winning his second in 2006, and his third in 2010. In 2022, Mickelson did not compete in the Masters Tournament, the first time since 1994.
Mickelson missed the 2022 Masters Tournament as he was embroiled in controversy after an excerpt from an unauthorized biography was released in which Mickelson criticized the PGA Tour. Mickelson made the withdrawal announcement for the 2026 Masters Tournament on his social media accounts, stating “Unfortunately I will not play in the Masters Tournament next week and will be out for an extended period of time as my family continues to navigate a personal health matter. I have great respect for Augusta National Golf Club and it is definitely the most special week of the year.
I wish everyone the best of luck and will be watching. ” Mickelson was set to make his 33rd start at the Masters Tournament next week. Mickelson recently returned from an absence on the LIV Golf League two weeks ago, where he finished in a tie for 48th in South Africa.
