Phil Mickelson Won't Play in the Masters Next Week

The three-time Masters champion says he "will be out for an extended period of time as my family continues to navigate a personal health matter. " Just a few days after the folks at Augusta National confirmed Tiger Woods would not be playing in the 90th edition of the Masters —or on property at all next week, for that matter—Phil Mickelson announced on Thursday that he, too, won’t be playing in the year’s first major championship. “Unfortunately, I will not play in the Masters Tournament next week and will be out for an extended period of time as my family continues to navigate a personal health matter,” Mickleson wrote in a social post.

Mickelson missed the first four LIV Golf events this year before making his season debut in South Africa, finishing the week in a tie for 48th. RELATED: Every Player in the Masters Field The three-time Masters champion was slated to make his 33rd start at Augusta National. Before missing the cut last year and tying for 43rd in 2024, Mickelson tied for second in 2023 behind Jon Rahm.

Both Mickelson and Woods will no doubt be missed when the golf world heads down Magnolia Lane next week.
