Pistons give update on health of star Cade Cunningham
The Detroit Pistons announced on Thursday that Cade Cunningham is making progress in his recovery.
Detroit ā Cade Cunningham is making progress in his recovery from a collapsed lung, the Pistons announced Thursday. The star guard will continue to be monitored by the team's medical staff, physicians and performance specialists. He is scheduled for a re-evaluation by the team in one week as he works toward returning to play.
The injury update on Cunningham comes two days after he watched the Pistons take a 127-116 victory over the Toronto Raptors from the sidelines at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday. It also came a week after the All-Star guard spent time at the Henry Ford Health Pistons Performance Center after shootaround, working alongside team trainers on March 25. Cade Cunningham is in attendance tonight.

Davis (@CotyDavis_24) April 1, 2026 Although there have been positive signs in Cunningham's recovery, there is still no timeline for his return. With six games remaining in the regular season, he will fall short of qualifying for end-of-season awards due to the league's 65-game rule. He had played 61 games at the time of the injury against the Washington Wizards on March 17.
