Great Falls High track looking to return strong with opening meet at Skyview
Bison open up the track season on Friday in Billings.
It’s a new season for the Great Falls High track and field team as they head to the Magic City to kick things off. The Bison head to Billings for a dual with Skyview at noon on Friday, April 3, before playing host to Kalispell Flathead at Memorial Stadium on April 10. “We have some kids who I think are going to be very pleasant surprises for us and we have a lot of strong youth with some pretty outstanding junior and senior leaders,” Kilian said. Leading the ticket for Great Falls High is junior Scarlet Harris, who was second in the 100-meter hurdles at state last season and was also All-State in the long jump. Harris excels in both the short and long hurdles and aims to compete in heptathlons in college, Kilian said, so the junior will work in different events during the season.
“The beautiful thing about an athlete like her is not only her skill but her work ethic is phenomenal,” Kilian said. “She is willing to try a lot. ” Bree MacDonald is another returning All-State performer, having taken third at state the past two seasons in the pole vault.
Great Falls High adds another podium performer this year as Addison Smith joins the Bison after transferring from C. M. Russell High.
