Screenshot A college softball game was briefly halted on Wednesday as players and spectators alike got a clear view of Artemis IIโs launch to the moon. The NASA ship launched Wednesday afternoon from Floridaโs Kennedy Space Center. The historic mission โ the first manned trip to the moon in more than half a century โ is set to take 10 days while the astronauts travel around the moon and then back to Earth.
Excitement for the mission was understandably high, as one child perfectly summed up on CNN . Moments after the Artemis II began its trip to the moon, those in attendance at the game between Stetson University and Florida were treated to a view of its launch. On the broadcast, Florida utility player Madison Walker was seen pointing up to the sky.
In the next shot, Stetson catcher Gaby Bauer turned around and see what Walker was pointing at. Behind Bauer, the entire crowd turned around to record on their phones. โTrying to get a look at it for you,โ one of the announcers said to the audience at home, โbut I donโt know that we have a camera โ there it is!
โ Then, the ship was shown in full view as it headed for the moon.
