Lorient could poach Dunkerque’s sporting director Demba Ba According to a report from L’Équipe and confirmed by Foot Mercato , FC Lorient are attempting to secure the arrival of a new sporting director, with USL Dunkerque’s Demba Ba firmly in the frame. Since joining Dunkerque in 2023, the former Chelsea striker has impressed in his role, helping to establish a model that identifies young talent, develops them, and then sells them on for profit, such as with Gessime Yassine (20), who joined RC Strasbourg Alsace at the start of the year. Demba Ba has also played at bringing an attractive brand of football to the Ligue 2 side, with the ex-Senegalese international recruiting head coaches Luís Castro and Albert Sánchez.
The former brought Dunkerque into last year’s playoffs and the Coupe de France semi-final before leaving for FC Nantes, while Sánchez has Les Maritimes in 8th and in the playoff picture. Demba Ba’s success has attracted the attention of Black Knight, the owners of AFC Bournemouth, who became the sole shareholder at Lorient at the start of the year. However, no deal has been reached.
