Missoula Big Sky scored 11 runs and sent 15 batters to the plate in the fifth inning to take a 15-4 victory over Flathead in AA softball at ABS Park Wednesday afternoon. Flathead (0-2) took advantage of a bases-loaded walk to Macey McIlhargey in the first and a passed ball in the second to take a 2-0 lead. After the Eagles got one back in the third, Kinsey Lake singled on a bunt to score Reese Rosenberg.

Danica Hennell also scored on the throwing error to make it 4-1 Bravettes. Hayden Weaver got the fifth inning started for the Eagles (1-1) with an RBI single to center. Sara Bjornson followed with an RBI double before Madison Norcorss tied the game with a single to second base.

Six singles in the next seven batters extended the advantage to 9-4 for Big Sky. Kaya Lopez then added a two-run single to short followed by a Logan Latrielle double that made it 12-4. She was thrown out trying to extend her hit.

Kalin Merritt added some insurance runs for the Eagles with a three-run inside-the-park home run on a hit to left field. Merritt and Bjornson then shut down the Bravettes hitters in the circle to end the game after six innings due to the run rule. Merritt ended the day 1-for-1 with long ball and threw 1 2-3 innings.

She allowed two hits and one run while fanning two batters. Briella Wilson threw four innings for the Eagles, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out two. June Stickney and McIlhargey took to the circle for Flathead.
