According to his agent, Mike McCartney, former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins is signing with the Raiders. The length and financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. "Congrats Kirk Cousins agreeing to a contract with the Raiders," McCartney wrote .

Why Raiders signed Kirk Cousins While Cousins' best days are very clearly behind him, he is absolutely perfect for what the Raiders need, which is a good backup. Say what you want about Cousins' diminished skills, but we'd still take him under center over Aidan O'Connell, who was initially slated to be Mendoza's backup. Another great quality Cousins has is he can be a mentor to Mendoza as he navigates his first season in the NFL.

And, if Mendoza isn't ready to start, Cousins can step in as a temporary solution until the Indiana superstar is ready to go.
