These two draft prospects could be great fits for the 49ers in the first two rounds of the 2026 NFL draft.

Who the San Francisco 49ers take in the first two rounds of the 2026 NFL draft should lay the groundwork for the team's short- and long-term future in the league. The 49ers are looking to remain playoff contenders this season, and finding the right pieces in the draft is a great place to start with a few months before the season begins. NFL.

com's Eric Edholm found two ideal fits for the 49ers in the first two rounds: Washington receiver Denzel Boston at pick No. 27 and Kentucky offensive guard Jalen Farmer at pick No. 58.

Both players would be picked with the future in mind, as the 49ers will need to figure out their long-term plans at both positions after this season. Boston might not be the next Mike Evans, but there's overlap in their games, and the rookie can follow around one of the best vets ever to do it before taking Evans' spot in San Francisco in a year or two. Is receiver the most glaring need?

That's debatable, but the fit felt right -- and like something the 49ers would do. They also could use an influx of athleticism on the O-line, and Farmer brings that as a quality run blocker and interesting project. Evans will be 33 when the 2026 season begins, so finding someone who can learn and develop alongside him will be critical for the 49ers' offense once Evans eventually retires.
