How Pace Prosser knew Erie long before starring for Gannon men's hoops

Long before sporting a Gannon men's basketball jersey, Pace Prosser spent summers visiting Erie. He'll soon lead the Knights into an NCAA final.

Pace Prosser will soon lead Gannon University into the NCAA Division II men’s basketball final. A Somerset County native and former PIAA Class 2A player of the year, Prosser is the leading scorer on a Golden Knights team which averages more than 95 points per game. His first memories of Erie, however, don’t involve Gannon or basketball.

Long before sporting Gannon’s maroon and gold, Prosser spent summers visiting Waldameer and Presque Isle State Park. Prosser’s mother, Rachel, grew up in East Springfield and attended Northwestern High School. Formerly Rachel Romance , she and her husband, Tanner Prosser, built a high school basketball dynasty at District 5’s Berlin Brothersvalley .

Back-to-back PIAA championship runs created hectic winters for the Prosser family. Still, they rarely missed games at Highmark Events Center during Pace’s first two seasons at Gannon. Rest assured they’ll be at Indianapolis when Gannon plays for a national title April 5.
