Titans’ tight roster crunch could impact UDFA strategy
The Titans are nearing the 90-man roster limit, leaving little room for undrafted free agents after the NFL Draft.
The Tennessee Titans ' free agency signing period took a break after signing former Cleveland Browns linebacker Mohamoud Diabate on March 23. However, that proved not to be the end, as they signed four players on April 1, taking the lead in most players signed this offseason with 24. That total increases to 26 when adding in their trades for EDGE Jermaine Johnson and defensive lineman Solomon Thomas.
Their four recent signings included quarterback Hendon Hooker, running back Michael Carter, wide receivers K. J. Osborn and Lance McCutcheon, bringing their total roster count to 78 players.
With the NFL's maximum of 90 players being allowed in training camp and the NFL draft still on the horizon, the Titans appear to be changing course with their roster construction this season. 78 players currently under contract. + 9 draft picks.
87. That leaves us room to only sign 3 UDFA at this time for the max of 90 players allowed. Interesting strategy this year.
