It’s perhaps no surprise, given Champions League qualification is fading into the distance. Chelsea’s season hinged on the decision to sack Enzo Maresca back in January. Former Blue Jon Obi Mikel thinks it was a huge mistake, and that he could understand why players were already doubting their future at Chelsea.

They don’t have the patience to sit through another rebuild. Player doubts inevitable after sacking decision says Mikel “They’ve already done [a rebuild] with Enzo Maresca. Right now, if you’d given Maresca, with this team, another couple of years, I could have seen us going somewhere in terms of winning the Premier League,” Mikel said.

“But right now, we’ve taken one step towards then ten steps backwards. There is no cohesion, there is no chemistry. There is no trust between Liam Rosenior and the players.
