Smith’s return to Phoenix brings organizational experience and knowledge that directly links to the club’s championship identity. A key contributor during the Mercury’s 2007 and 2009 title runs, Smith is familiar with the standards of an elite team and can translate that to the new generation through her coaching. With years of collegiate coaching experience, her impact this season will center on player development and restoring a culture rooted in accountability and versatility.

Her perspective will be valuable in high-pressure moments, when experience and composure often shape outcomes. Book’s addition reflects a different but equally important direction. As head video coordinator, she brings a modern approach to preparation.
