Berks baseball roundup for April 1: Exeter downs Reading High; Matt Woram’s home run streak ends
Brandon Feathers went 2 for 3 with three runs batted in as Exeter scored a 10-3 BCIAA Division 1 baseball victory over Reading High on Wednesday. The Eagles’ Matt Woram, a junior outfielder, was going for his fifth straight game with a home run but went 0 for 3 with three strikeouts and a walk. Jake Franek hit a solo home run for Exeter (4-2 overall, 2-1 Division 1).
Xavier Jacobs had two doubles for the Eagles and drove in a run and winning pitcher Mason Goodhart went the distance, striking out eight, giving up four hits and three earned runs. For Reading High (2-3, 1-2), Janser Paredes went doubled and had two runs batted in. Berks Catholic 13, Antietam 3: Aidan Curley tripled and knocked in three runs as the Saints scored a 13-3 six-inning win over Antietam on Wednesday.
Caleb Tobin singled and knocked in two runs for the Saints, while Dominic Valent, Owen Schalk and Heriel Ramirez each had two hits. Wyomissing 7, Hamburg 3: Noah Rauenzahn had a single, was hit by a pitch and had 4 RBIs as Wyomissing defeated Hamburg 7-3 in a Division 3 game on Wednesday. The Spartans improved to 3-1 overall, 3-0 and the Hawks fell to 5-2, 1-2.
Also for Wyomissing, Teddy White had two hits and scored two runs. For the Hawks, Ethan Horvath had two hits and knocked in two runs. Wilson 8, Governor Mifflin 1: Timothy Lengle went 2 for 4 with four RBIs as Wilson defeated Governor Mifflin 8-1 in a Division 1 game.
Winning pitcher Jack Gabel went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Bulldogs. On the mound, Gabel went 6. 2 innings and struck out nine, giving up two hits and one earned run.
