49ers add OL, DB help in new 3-round mock draft
The San Francisco 49ers could fortify positions of need in the first two rounds rather than try to make wholesale upgrades.
The San Francisco 49ers only have two picks in the first three rounds after trading their third-round pick for Dallas Cowboys for defensive lineman Osa Odighizuwa. The team still has two top-60 picks, though, at Nos. 27 and 58.
What the 49ers do there will help determine what general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan think of the team going into the 2026 season. They could add more offensive firepower, upgrade the defense or find depth pieces either either or both of these selections. CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson went with a more pragmatic approach in his newest mock draft.
Wilson picked Utah tackle Caleb Lomu at No. 27 before adding Florida cornerback Devin Moore at No. 58.
We might look back in a few years and Lomu is the best tackle in the class. In San Francisco, he'll be ready to step in for Trent Williams when he eventually moves on. This is a future-looking move for a 49ers team that looks a lot different when Williams isn't in the line-up.
