Phillies' Kyle Schwarber Has Perfect Response to Slow Start in Philadelphia
The start hasn’t been ideal for the Philadelphia Phillies, and at some point, we have to talk about it. Personally, I’m not ready to get too upset over a team being 3-3. If the Phillies had a 3-3 stretch in the middle of July, no one would say a thing.
But because it’s the first few days of the season, there’s always more heat. That’s the message the Phillies have had in the clubhouse, too. Sugger Kyle Schwarber said it best, stating that as long as the Phillies do what they have to do on a daily basis, they’ll be more than fine.
“You always try to stay off that roller coaster,” Schwarber said. “We keep going about our work, and we keep trying to get better on a daily basis and keeping even-keeled, not getting too emotional about anything. The more that you can be very objective, and for yourself, just undress the top to bottom and look at it and go from there and try to work for the next day… “Everyone knows their capabilities,” he said.
“Everyone knows what they feel is good for them, what they feel is wrong for them. And feeling like that, you can kind of look at success, you can look at failure and you can figure out a way to learn from that. And that's what this is about.
It's not saying that we're complacent by any means. I think it's more the fact of trying to stay, like I said, [with] that level head and get to work and show up to the field the next day, get ready to work and expect to win a baseball game when you walk out. ” Rob Thomson knows better than anyone that these things simply happen and the teams job has to be focused on limiting these moments as much as possible.
