Dylan Larkin There’s a difference between being back in the lineup from injury and being back to the player you were before getting hurt, as Detroit Red Wings fans are discovering about two of the club’s core players. Captain Dylan Larkin is back in action following a seven-game absence due to a lower-body injury.

On a couple of occasions during Tuesday’s 5-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins , Larkin was in obvious pain. In one instance, he basically had to resort to crawling back to the Detroit bench.
“Well, one, we give him credit for slugging through it, and it’s clear he’s not 100% yet the way he’s skating,” Red Wings coach Todd McLellan said. Larkin’s game is speed. His pace is the edge that he holds over opponents.
