Sammy Smith seeking first win of 2026 after strong start to season

Sammy Smith is seeking his first win of the 2026 NASCAR O'Reilly Series season and it could be coming soon. Smith and the No. 8 team for JR Motorsports have been very strong to start the 2026 season with six top-10 finishes in the first seven races.

The driver of the No. 8 car is tied with Justin Allgaier and Corey Day for the most. Smith is experiencing what could be a breakout season in the O'Reilly Series.

The JR Motorsports driver already has four top-5 finishes, putting him on pace to shatter his career high of eight during the 2025 NASCAR season. Smith also has an outstanding 8. 7 average finishing position going into Rockingham Speedway.

Speaking of Rockingham, it was the only race that Smith won during the 2025 NASCAR season after Jesse Love was disqualified. The No. 8 team has been very consistent through the first seven races, and Smith is getting close to victory lane.
