There is a lot of hope surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders as Klint Kubiak takes over the AFC West franchise, and much of that hope stems from the draft.
Holding the No. 1 overall pick, the Raiders are expected to take quarterback Fernando Mendoza. That gives the Raiders, they hope, their franchise quarterback for the next decade.
After a good free agency period that saw the Raiders be big spenders, attention now turns to the draft, where Las Vegas has 10 selections. And for NFL. com's Eric Edholm, his ideal top two picks for the Raiders are Mendoza, and Alabama receiver Germie Bernard.
"I love the idea of pairing Mendoza with a QB-friendly receiver such as Bernard," Edholm wrote . "He’s an inside-outside threat who can be a security blanket for the next several years. Bernard also is a quality blocker whose value to an offense isn’t always measured in stats.
