Texas A&M's Vanessa Borovilos opened with a 66 at Champions Retreat.

EVANS, Ga. — Vanessa Borovilos played recently alongside world No. 1 Kiara Romero at a college event at Colonial and took notes.

“Her swing is picture-perfect, and we were talking about it,” said Borovilos of her and Texas A&M head coach Gerrod Chadwell, “and we can see, like, how rotated she is in the back swing, even though her lower body stays pretty still. I was trying to do that a bit today. ” Romero’s swing is the envy of college golf.

Chris Zambri, head coach of the U. S. National Development Program, said Romero’s athletic, simple move reminds him of the tempo of Fred Couples and the position and beauty of Adam Scott.

“When you see it in person you’re just like what? ” said Zambri. "Just the way she does it.
