Fowler sees bigger plan for Isak as Salah exit reshapes Liverpool attack Fowler Sees Bigger Plan for Isak After Salah Exit Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler believes Alexander Isak has a bright future at Anfield, despite a challenging first season. Speaking to This Is Anfield, Fowler highlighted that Isak may not yet have been used to his strengths, but the exit of Mohamed Salah could open the door for a more central role. “He’s brilliant.
I mean I spoke before about Alexander Isak being one of these players again who can change games,” Fowler told This Is Anfield. “He’s a player that Liverpool have earmarked for maybe life after Mo. Okay, they’re different positions obviously, but there’s going to be a role for him.
But that means bringing other players in different roles to try and help him. ” Fowler, who scored 183 goals in 369 appearances for Liverpool, has an eye for striking talent and understands the pressures of adapting to the Premier League. He noted that Liverpool’s current system, which has often seen Isak play alone in an attacking three, might not be ideal for the Swede’s game.
“Probably playing the way we have this year didn’t help Isak>,” Fowler added. “<It didn’t help [Hugo] Ekitike [too], because obviously players [wingers] coming inside and trying to feed balls in, when as a striker you want someone to be whipping balls in so you can go and attack the front post or go and attack the far post. ” The former Liverpool striker believes the team may have been planning for the future when signing Isak, with a longer-term vision in mind.
