Ann Arbor – Right outside of the William Davidson Player Development Center was a sea of maize and blue early Wednesday afternoon, all cheering for one of the most dominant basketball teams in the country. The No. 1 seed Michigan Wolverines are headed to Indianapolis to face off against fellow 1-seed Arizona on Saturday in what will be Michigan’s first Final Four appearance since 2018.
UM staged a sendoff event for the Wolverines and hundreds of fans showed up to watch the players board a bus and wish them good luck. The event was characterized by the excitement of the Wolverine fans, who are eager to see their team do what has not been done since 1989 – win a national championship in men's basketball. Children and adults alike showed out, some holding signs poking some fun at opponents while pushing support for the home team.
