Falcons bringing back veteran LB DeAngelo Malone on one-year deal

The Atlanta Falcons are re-signing veteran linebacker DeAngelo Malone to a one-year contract, according to a report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler . Malone, 26, was drafted by the Falcons in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Western Kentucky. Over his first four seasons in Atlanta, he recorded 59 tackles (32 solo), three sacks, seven tackles for loss and one interception.

Malone gives the team more depth at linebacker and is a solid contributor on special teams. Last season, Malone appeared in just nine games before going on the injured reserve list with an ankle injury. Prior to agreeing to terms with the Falcons, Malone took a free-agent visit with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week but left without a contract.

He now returns to Atlanta as another solid depth signing under general manager Ian Cunningham. Check out the team's updated roster below (free-agent additions in bold). Quarterbacks (3) Michael Penix Jr.
