University of Pittsburgh women’s basketball head coach Robin Harmony announced on Wednesday the hiring of Randy Javier Schneider as associate head coach and Greg Long as assistant coach. Both coaches join the program after serving on Harmony’s staff at the College of Charleston last season. The appointments reunite Harmony with two long-time colleagues following a successful tenure at Charleston.

Schneider has coached with Harmony for nearly 20 years, most recently helping the Cougars achieve a 27-win season and capture both the Coastal Athletic Association regular season and tournament titles in the 2025-26 campaign. Harmony expressed confidence in the new additions to her coaching staff. “We are thrilled to welcome Randy and Greg to Pittsburgh,” Harmony said.

“Both bring tremendous experience, strong recruiting ties and a passion for developing student-athletes on and off the court. They are high-character individuals who align perfectly with the culture we are building for Pitt women’s basketball. ” During his time at Charleston, Schneider was instrumental in the recruitment and development of guard Taryn Barbot, who was named the CAA Player of the Year in both 2025 and 2026.

Barbot became the fastest player in the history of the program to reach 1,000 career points, reaching the milestone during her sophomore year. Schneider helped lead Charleston to three consecutive seasons with 20 or more wins starting in 2023-24. Before his time in South Carolina, he served as associate head coach under Harmony at Lamar from 2013 to 2019.

During that six-season stretch, the Cardinals recorded a 115-68 record and led the nation in steals, forced turnovers and turnover margin for three consecutive years. Schneider also spent six seasons as an assistant under Harmony at St. Thomas in Florida, where the team made three NAIA National Championship appearances.
