A funny thing happened on the way to a formal agreement, though — BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl was sacked.
For Schlotterbeck, that means the old deal is off the table (at least for now) and new talks are to be held with Kehl’s replacement per a statement by Schlotterbeck, as captured by Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg : 🚨⤵️ The figures are agreed and won’t change significantly. However, Nico #Schlotterbeck’s final approval is still missing. He said: “We’re not at a point where anything is close to being finalised.
I had long negotiations with Sebastian Kehl, but he’s no longer here. Now the situation has changed a bit. I will definitely hold talks with Ole Book.
“ “It’s unfortunate for the #BVB fans, but it’s not an easy situation for me either. ” 🇩🇪 While not ideal for either Schlotterbeck or Borussia Dortmund, this should only be a temporary issue. The two sides will still likely ink a new deal in the coming weeks.
