Two of the most consistent NCAA Tournament participants over the last three decades will meet next season in a non-conference battle

Michigan State basketball will reportedly play another big-time program on the west coast next season. It has been reported that Spartans head coach Tom Izzo revealed on Tuesday that Michigan State will play against Gonzaga in a neutral site game in California next season. The exact location and date of the game has not yet been announced or reported at this time.

Izzo announced this marquee non-conference game via an interview with Tim Staudt of WILX on Tuesday. He also noted that Michigan State will play Arkansas on Thanksgiving at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit -- which was a matchup originally scheduled to be played in Fayetteville, Ark. The full Michigan State schedule will not be released until sometime in the mid-to-late summer, but at this point in time we already know of a few notable games.

The Spartans will play Duke in Chicago (part of Champions Classic), Arkansas in Detroit and Gonzaga in California. Michigan State is also expected to host UConn in an exhibition game as part of a home-and-home series with the Huskies. It's safe to say, Izzo is going to have another monster non-conference slate this upcoming season and give us fans plenty of chances to watch some high-level hoops before we even get into Big Ten play.
