Aaron Rodgers to the Broncos? Wild NFL report floats possibility

This is NOT an April Fool's joke.

Could NFL free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers actually join the Denver Broncos? With it widely assumed that Rodgers will return to the Pittsburgh Steelers for another year if he decides to play in 2026, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio dropped a spicy report on Wednesday about Denver. "Thereโ€™s talk of the Broncos possibly bringing Rodgers in for a visit," Florio wrote.

"The motivation comes from the possibility that current starter Bo Nix wonโ€™t be fully and completely back to 100 percent when Week 1 rolls around. "This notion conflicts with recent comments from Broncos owner Greg Penner, who declared at the NFLโ€™s annual meeting that Nix is ' ahead of schedule ' from the broken ankle he suffered late in the playoff win over the Bills and should be good to go for OTAs. " Would Rodgers actually play for the Broncos this year?

We have our doubts, given that it's Nix's job to lose and that he will most likely reassume his starting role once he's healthy from his January ankle injury. Obviously, the Broncos adding Rodgers would be a huge move that would impact Pittsburgh's offseason as much as Denver's. If Rodgers is fine relaxing on the bench once Nix is healthy, it's an intriguing fit.

We're doubtful Broncos coach Sean Payton would bail on Nix entirely for a one-year Rodgers rental, but stranger things have happened. Who would the Steelers sign if Rodgers went to Denver? Kirk Cousins, perhaps?
