Six games into the season, Boston Red Sox brass decided to give sophomore Roman Anthony a break. Since Opening Day’s 3-for-4 performance, Anthony registered one hit in his previous 17 at-bats, including 10 strikeouts. Along with several regulars, Anthony was not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s series finale against the Houston Astros at Daikin Park.
After passing his MLB audition last season, Anthony connected on eight homers in 71 games, setting up high expectations for the slugging outfielder. Through five starts this season, Anthony owned a . 190 batting average with one RBI.
