Louisville women's basketball assistant leaving to join Florida staff

Louisville women's basketball assistant Shay Robinson is joining Florida as associate head coach after four years with Jeff Walz's Cardinals.

Less than 24 hours after losing Amanda Butler from the Louisville women's basketball coaching staff, the Cardinals will have one more departure. Assistant coach Shay Robinson is set to join Florida's staff as the associate head coach, the Gators announced on Wednesday. Robinson joined Louisville's staff in 2022 as an associate coach and had prior stints at Ole Miss, Maryland and Kansas.

The Cardinals went 101-41 during his time with the program. He also helped work with former UofL forwards Olivia Cochran, who became the third player in program history to have over 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds in her career, and Nyla Harris, who shot a team-best 56. 3% and had six double-doubles as a sophomore before transferring to North Carolina this past season.

Louisville will have to fill both positions as well as find a new director of video analytics and graphic design after LaMont Russell, who had been with the program for 10 years, left to become the Dallas Wings' director of player development.
