Jaguars' Liam Coen outlines next steps for Brian Thomas Jr.
Jaguars head coach Liam Coen isn’t focused on what Brian Thomas Jr. accomplished last season. but on what comes next this offseason.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have made it clear that Brian Thomas Jr. isn't going anywhere, even as rumors continue to persist that he's a trade candidate. Thomas had an incredibly strong rookie season, and his sophomore year was seen as somewhat of a disappointment, leading to talk that he could be on the way out.
Analysts have consistently rated him a top trade target , but both James Gladstone and Liam Coen have made it clear: Thomas is staying in Jacksonville . That, then, leads to speculation on what the future for Thomas will look like; he has both Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington to battle with for the WR1 and WR2 spots, along with Travis Hunter expected to rotate in for some offensive snaps occasionally. Yet if any fans are expecting Thomas' lackluster 2025 season to be a mark against him, they would be wrong.
While in Phoenix for NFL meetings, Coen spoke with the Florida Times-Union's Ryan O'Halloran and gave some insight into what he is thinking for 2026. “This is a great opportunity for us to look at it with BTJ this offseason," he said. "These are the true areas where we can improve, let’s go attack it with relentless pursuit and not worry about the results and what happen last year.
