Jon Scheyer named NABC Coach of the Year after 35-win season

Although the Duke Blue Devils fell to UConn in the NCAA Tournament, there's no denying that head coach Jon Scheyer had a tremendous season.

Following a season in which Duke went 35-3, won the ACC regular-season and tournament titles and were the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, Blue Devils' head coach Jon Scheyer has been named Coach of the Year by the NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches). In his fourth year since taking over for Mike Krzyzewski, Scheyer became the fastest ACC coach in conference history to reach 100 wins, and the first Duke head coach that has won this award since Coack K in 1999. The Blue Devils seemed to be on their way to their second straight Final Four, holding a two-point lead over UConn with 10 seconds left, but a turnover by Cayden Boozer led to a last-second three-point shot by Braylon Mullins to give the Huskies' the victory.

All eyes will be on Scheyer next season with the Blue Devils searching for their first title since 2015. This article originally appeared on Duke Wire: Jon Scheyer named NABC Coach of the Year after 35-win season
