The Philadelphia Phillies finally got what they've been waiting years to see: an Andrew Painter start in the Major Leagues.

And it went incredibly well, as the Phillies righty looked fantastic in 5. 1 innings pitched. Painter allowed four hits, one walk, one run, and struck out eight in a great way to begin his MLB career.

It was a strong outing against the Washington Nationals , and one the Phillies desperately needed after losing the previous three games. After the game was won, giving Painter his first win as well, the Phillies celebrated the rookie in the clubhouse. And as Matt Gelb of The Athletic shared, the Phillies players dumped a nasty concoction on Painter in celebration.
