In 2026, every day is April Fools' Day
A new fool is born every second of every day on the internet.
Good morning. I fully intended to use today's newsletter to remind everyone to keep their heads on a swivel, you know, with it being April Fools' Day and all. You never know what garbage you might come across on the interwebs.
Sure enough, the "jokes" are flying. We've already seen a Carmelo Anthony unretirement , the reveal of a new James Bond , the Mavericks fire Jason Kidd and the creation of the blasphemously named Ohio Wolverines . A new fool is being made every minute.
Don't be one of them. But before I could even finish forming that warning in my head, it hit me. This is actually our new reality.
Nothing about today should be unfamiliar, because in 2026, the internet is flooded with false information. From playful satirical accounts to bots and bad actors with malicious intent to artificial intelligence deepfakes to actual news sources with far-leaning political agendas. Heck, even from the politicians themselves.
