Marc Marquez admits Marco Bezzecchi is unstoppable in 2026
Photo by Mirco Lazzari gp/Getty Images Marc Marquez has found himself in a new rivalry this season, with Marco Bezzecchi getting the better of him in all three races so far in 2026. Marquez is aiming for his tenth world championship this season, but a shoulder injury suffered late last year was always going to make that a difficult task. So far, that’s proven to be true.
His only win so far came in the Brazil Sprint race, while Bezzecchi has been flawless, winning all three Grands Prix at Buriram, Goiania and COTA. The Aprilia rider has now strung together five straight wins going back to last season. Bezzecchi’s form has drawn comparisons to Jorge Lorenzo after he broke Lorenzo’s record for most consecutive laps led following the US Grand Prix.
He’s now led the last 121 laps of MotoGP action and hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. He is still struggling with his physical condition and is not comfortable on the GP26.
Carlos Checa says ‘something’s wrong’ with Marquez after watching his performance at COTA. He collided with Fabio Di Giannantonio in the Sprint, resulting in a long lap penalty for the Grand Prix, where he finished fifth. He was eight seconds behind Bezzecchi at the chequered flag.
After the race, he admitted that Bezzecchi has made a huge step forward, and no one can get the better of him right now. Speaking to Mundo Deportivo about Bezzecchi’s form this season, Marquez said: “When a rider has led every lap on Sundays, maybe he’ll still say I’m the favourite but…Bezzecchi is in incredible form and he’s proving it. Right now, he’s unstoppable.
