HOUSTON — Red Sox pitcher Johan Oviedo ’s velocity was down significantly in his final spring training start. The velocity drop remained in his first regular season appearance Monday after making the team as a long reliever. The 28-year-old righty gave up four runs, six hits (two homers) and one walk while striking out three over 3 ⅔ innings in Boston’s 8-1 loss to the Astros .
