Libby Loggers run-rule Eureka
LIBBY — Maddie Willis doubled twice and drove in three runs, Leah Rusdal doubled and scored three times and Libby improved to 2-0 with a 14-2 non-conference softball win over Eureka Tuesday. Willis’ RBI double was the big hit in a 4-run first inning; Teighler Parker had an RBI single in the second and the Loggers took command with seven runs in the third. Another Willis RBI double made it 6-1; Rossi Baney’s two-run triple made it 8-1.
Two runs came in on a Macy Foss single and Dakota Allen’s RBI base hit made it 12-1. Bently Houston added a two-run triple in the fourth inning. The game ended the next inning under the mercy rule.
Weslee MacDonald, Willis and Carmen Kohler shared the pitching duties, with MacDonald and Kohler each giving up a run in two innings of work. Kohler fanned three. Willis threw a spotless third inning, striking out two.
Lily McAfee doubled and drove in two runs for the Lady Lions, who were out-hit 15-2. Frenchtown 11, Ronan 6 RONAN — Frenchtown’s Dizzie Smith hit a two-run homer, then pitched 3 2-3 innings of one-run relief as the Broncs rallied from a 5-2 deficit to win the first game of a non-league doubleheader. Down 2-0, Ronan put up five runs in the second, starting with Kai-Cee Sorell’s leadoff home run to center.
Raela Bartel added a two-run single to put the Maidens up 3-2 and the lead grew to 5-2 on an RBI groundout from Sierra McGreevey and a single from Autumn Lozeau. Ronan didn’t score again. Frenchtown went up for good, 6-5, on Mackenzie Brush’s two-run single in the fourth; Smith’s RBI single made it 10-6 in the sixth inning.
