Manchester United face issue in offloading Andre Onana Manchester United are facing a potential issue in offloading Andre Onana with the goalkeeper’s wages set to rise should the club secure Champions League qualification. Michael Carrick’s side are third in the Premier League table and on course to return to Europe’s elite next season. As a result, several players will see their wages rise after contract clauses led to an initial reduction when the club missed out on Europe last season.

The rise could prove problematic in offloading Onana. The goalkeeper is currently on loan at Trabzonspor in Turkey with the deal not including a permanent clause. According to ESPN, United fear an increase in Onana’s wages will make it difficult to attract suitors without subsidising a portion of the player’s salary.

Onana has two years to run on his contract at Old Trafford. The Cameroon international is also keen to fight for his place in the summer. Following the exit of Ruben Amorim as head coach, Onana is hoping for a fresh chance to impress in pre-season and battle with Senne Lammens for the number one position.
